Below are some of the recent activities the scouts from Troop 1000 have participated in over the last year. We appreciate the support from the community for the troop!
The scouts worked on fence repair during a volunteer day at the Broad Creek Scout Reservation in DecemberFollowing the volunteering, the scouts camped at Broad Creek and got to do some camping in the snow.In Nov, the scouts went camping at Shenandoah National Park, saw fall foliage, hiked to a waterfall, and practiced cooking over an open fire with a tripod.The troop camped along the Potomac River in October, practiced some skills, and hiked to Great Falls. September was whitewater rafting at Ohiopyle in Pennsylvania.In July the scouts attended summer camp at Broad Creek Scout Reservation to earn some merit badges and have fun!The scouts had a trip of a lifetime backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in June. The scouts spent two weeks and hiked over 90 miles.The scouts had a rainy hike at Cromwell Valley Park as part of their training for Philmont.The scouts had a "No Rules" Pinewood derby to see who could build the fastest car, which included motors, mousetraps, air canisters and other contraptions.Some tired scouts after a full day of delivering mulch.
